A DOUBT REGARDING COMPILERS

I observed that when I allocate some memory dynamically
If I use gcc compiler the values are initialised to 0 for integers , NULL for pointers and so on
But this is not the case when I use DEV C
Can sum1 plz explain me why is this so
And also If there are some other differences between gcc and DEV C can someone plz list them.....
